Unlike Melatonin, Valerian Root has the ability to cut the time to fall asleep by 15 to 20 minutes, while also improve the quality of sleep you get. It’s the best of both worlds! It is recommended to take between 400 to 900 milligrams up to 2 hours before bed to get the best rest results.
#3 - Diphenhydramine
DPH is one of the main ingredients for many allergy medications. I know that there are instances when your body is fighting off a cold before bed, and sometimes you wake up in the middle of the night to cough or sneeze, which affects your quality of sleep. Since DPH is a sedative antihistamine, it is able to not only fight off allergies, but also induce sleep. No cold and better sleep? That’s a home run!
Diphenhydramine is found in well-known allergy medications including Benadryl, Aleve PM, and ZzzQuil. If you plan on giving DPH a try, then make sure to allot 8 full hours of sleep since this aid does cause day-time drowsiness.
